ShelterBox Fundraising Dinner

March 17, 2010 at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets: $90

The situation in Haiti is desperate and ShelterBox is already on the ground in Haiti.  But with millions of people affected by the earthquake, the need for shelter is extreme.

ShelterBox in conjuction with the Penticton Okanagan Rotary Club is having a fund raising dinner on March 17, 2010 at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre immediately preceeding the Reba McEntire concert.  Plan to come to dinner before the show and help the Haiti earthquake victims.

Tickets are $90 each.  A donation from each ticket will go to ShelterBox Canada, a registered charity, to help with the purchase of disaster relief shelters and supplies for Haiti and you will get a tax deductible receipt for $50.

ShelterBox instantly responds to earthquakes, volcanos, floods, hurricanes, cyclones, tsunamis or conflicts by delivering boxes of aid.

Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and lifesaving equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless. The contents are tailored depending on the nature and location of the disaster, with great care taken sourcing every item to ensure it is robust enough to be of lasting value.

The cost of a box is $1,000 Canadian, including delivery direct to those who need it.

Highly trained ShelterBox Response Teams distribute boxes on the ground, working closely with local organizations, international aid agencies and Rotary clubs worldwide.  In Haiti, the SRTs arrived in less than 48 hours and started working with the 14 local Rotary clubs that know the area and are critical in getting the boxes to the right places.

Since its inception in 2000, ShelterBox has firmly established itself at the forefront of international disaster relief, providing emergency shelter for the people who need it most.

Double your donation.  Money received before February 11 will be matched by the federal government.
