Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today that their 2010 Training Camp will be held in Penticton, British Columbia with on-ice activities beginning on Saturday, September 18. Prior to Veteran’s Camp, the Vancouver Canucks and city of Penticton will host the Vancouver Canucks Young Stars Tournament: an eight-game round-robin tournament, featuring prospects from the Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks from September 12-16.

“We are excited for the opportunity to host our training camp and Vancouver Canucks Young Stars Tournament in Penticton this year,” said Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis. “Our organization is very fortunate to have tremendous support from fans across the province and we are pleased to be able to bring our team to an area where people might not otherwise have the chance to see the Canucks play live. Penticton has a deep hockey history and we look forward in continuing to celebrate that legacy with our NHL players and prospects this fall.”

“We are very excited and honored to have the Vancouver Canucks choose Penticton for the Vancouver Canucks Young Stars Tournament and Veteran’s Training Camp for the start of their season,” said Dan Ashton, Mayor Penticton. “When we built our events centre part of our vision was to have the Canucks come and utilize it as a training facility…now to have five NHL teams come to Penticton for five days…this is a tremendous opportunity to showcase our facility and community.”

“There is an obvious and significant economic impact both events will bring to the city,” commented Councilor Andrew Jakubeit, committee chair. “This is also a great chance for our community and region to see firsthand extremely high calibre, fast paced and exciting hockey in an intimate setting."

The tournament rosters and information will be posted on www.canucks.com/youngstars as it becomes available. Rosters are subject to change.
